Canceling Class, Sick Leave, and Campus Closure
Canceling Class
Calling in Sick
If you need to call in sick, please follow your division procedure to notify your division. Post a note in your Canvas courses to let students know what to expect. Put an autoreply in Outlook to indicate your absence. The division staff will post a course cancellation. Sick leave should be submitted via Absence Request in ctcLink.
Sick Leave and Personal Leave
Faculty accrue sick leave and personal leave as laid out in the Agreement. Leave should be used for planned and unplanned absences and submitted through ctcLink. Notify your direct supervisor (usually the dean) of planned absences and request approval in ctcLink: go to HCM Self Service > Employee Self Service > Time > Request Absence. Follow your department's procedures to notify your direct supervisor ahead of your leave.
If you will be away from your position for more than 2-3 days due to illness or other reasons, you need to get approval and coverage from your unit administrator/dean as soon as possible. Faculty must have approval and approved support if unable to meet essential job functions. Please contact your dean and/or Human Resources if you have questions.
