A YouTube channel is simply a channel you create with a title; you can choose videos to run in order for the channel or add your own videos. You do not have to make new videos; you can choose from videos in YouTube. There are channels dedicated to learning topics, including ESL, phonics, reading, pronunciation, etc. Click here to view my Growth Mindset Channel.

To create your own videos, you can use Zoom, Panopto, Screencast, or others to make your own videos and upload to YouTube. See the pages in Canvas describing the recording program you like for information on making a video; most video captures provide an option to save online that you can add to YouTube.

To create a channel, YouTube will ask for your Google/gmail account; you can use your southseattle.edu account to log in.

Follow FERPA guidelines! When using virtual office hours, ensure that students have privacy when discussing grades, feedback, or other classroom questions. If recording a live session, be sure to close all personal applications on your computer, show your Canvas pages in "student view" (to prevent accidental sharing of names, grades, comments, etc.), and inform students at the start of each recording that the session will be recorded.
