Mini Games!

Mini games are a great way to motivate learners to practice skills. They can function as low stakes, supplemental opportunities to reinforce learning.

On this page, we are sharing a resource Learningapps.org that has a number of learning-based games including matching pairs, crosswords, word searches, and more.

General note on accessibility: Not all of these apps are designed with full accessibility in mind. For this reason, any games created should not be the sole option for students to engage with practice - but a supplemental option.

Browse Games Made by Others

Browsing games built by other educators is a great way to get familiar with the different kinds of "apps" you can build, as well as a tremendous time-saver if you can use or adapt a game for your own class!

Select "Browse Apps" from the website navigation bar.
Filter results by selecting a category relevant to your course.
You can also search for specific topics by using the search bar.
Hover your mouse over a game's thumbnail to get details, including what type of app was used.
Click on a game's thumbnail to preview it.
From a game's preview page, find the embed code in the lower right to incorporate it into a Canvas page.
You can adapt a game and make edits by selecting the "Create Similar Game" from the lower left.
Save the game to your own collection for later use by choosing "Bookmark in My Apps."
